Have you ever been unable to board a flight you’d booked? How did you resolve the issue? If it was the airline's fault, how were you compensated?

My Answer

My ticket was cancelled when I was going to travel to London as the airline bankrupted. Back then, IS invaded some of North Africa's territory and it made people visit there scarcely. It resulted in the bankrupcy of many European airlines which had earned most of money from the route for North Africa. Fortunately, my bank had a system to compensate the victims like me but I had to wait for ages until the claim would be accepted.

Correction

My ticket was cancelled when I planned on traveling to London due to an airline going bankrupt. Back then, ISIS invaded land in North Africa and it made people nervous about visiting there. This eventually resulted in the bankruptcy of many European airlines which greatly profit from their route to North Africa. Fortunately, my bank had a system to compensate victims of this situation like me, but I had to wait for ages for the claim to be processed.

Additional Notes

  • One passenger had to get off the plane and he had a nasal bone fracture. Bec ause I didnt know about the rule of overbooking on a plane, I thought it was kind of racism. I dont really understand why the passgener deserve the pain to his body. After I read this article, I figured out how the overbooking system works and how the companies have the rule normally.
  • At the same time I feel like I could understand the rule but I am very pitful about the Vitnamese american.
  • Nasal → nei·zl
  • Losing my tickets → cannot find a physical ticket
  • I lost my ticket due to the bank going bankrupt.
  • I was not allowed to board my flight due to …..
  • People don’t travel to NA due to dangerous sitaution. Back then, airplane.. Airline made many money for the routes for NA. They basically couldnt sell their tickets for the breakthrough points. Many companies just became bankrupted.
  • Even though the price was quite pricey →

  • Go + bankrupt
  • ISIS
  • Less tourists were visiting this area
  • Q6: I feel like the CEO dont (doesnt) really understand the passengers’ feeling. Maybe they should put something new in the guideline. Obviously he had to think about the solution to deal with this situation again. More in favor of customers.
  • Customer is always right.
  • Q8: I would say the root cause of this incident is the transparency about their rule. At least the passengers have to know the possibility of getting off when they bought their ticket. Maybe if the passenger already know they might get off the flight because of the overbooking, they could have more idea about whether they should go with this flight or not.
  • Defrost the plane
